走进第八届苏州创博会分会场,看上海赫德中学生如何创新

HD Shanghai students explored the Technoetic Arts with university students creating interactive art using conductive technology. Their teamwork and critical thinking has improved a lot through this marvelous experience. Their creations were exhibited at Suzhou Digital.

上海赫德的学生对科技艺术进行了一次大胆的探索,他们运用导电技术创作互动艺术作品。并在此过程中加强了团队合作和批判性思维能力。他们的作品在第二届创意阳澄数字文创节精彩的展出为此次探索和创新画上圆满的句号。

The Collaboration

我们如何协作?



This is the 4th iteration of the Collaboration project which aims to foster and build relationships in the spaces in between secondary and higher-level education. As part of the secondary school Art Elective course students from HDSH collaborated with students from the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts (SIVA), Technoetic Arts BA to create interactive artworks using conductive technology. 

这是我们的第四次协作项目,这个项目旨在建立和培养中学和大学的合作关系。这个项目是上海赫德双语学校中学部艺术选修课的一部分,赫德的学生和上海视觉艺术学院德稻大师班科智艺术专业的本科生一起运用导电技术,共同创作互动的艺术作品。


Building this relationship with such an established center for higher education was important to the students and teachers at HDSH as we were able to share their knowledge and approaches to learning.

对赫德的师生来说,和一个成熟的高校合作是很重要的。赫德的师生能够接触到大学生的知识,以及他们学习的方法途径。



Often the methods and subject content taught at secondary level are restricted by exam criteria and can be limited or prescriptive. We partnered our students with degree students with an aim to encourage more freedom of ideas; for the university students to help ours develop deeper and more abstract meaning in their work. 

通常情况下,中学生所学的内容都是考试大纲的内容,内容有限并且刻板。我们和本科生合作在创意上会更自由,大学生也会帮助我们的学生在他们的作品中建立更深,更具抽象意义的内容。

A fundamental part of organising a collaborative project is to plan time in which the students can be together; this can prove very difficult to organise when you are working within the schedules from two different institutions. Myself and the course leader of the Technoetics Art program at SIVA, John Bardakos spent time forging a detailed timetable for the project in which students could share ideas, test materials and develop outcomes.

组织这次合作项目一个基本的要素是安排学生们能在一起的时间。安排时间其实非常麻烦,因为要考虑两个学校的时间表。我和上海视觉艺术学院德稻大师班这个项目的负责人John Bardakaos 一起努力,为这个项目整理出来了一份详细的时间表,从而确保学生可以沟通想法,测试不同材料并且完成创作。



The Ideas

我们如何创意?


The students worked in groups to create work around the theme ‘Language, Signs and Symbols’. Students selected their own sub-themes to explore from, ‘Symbols of Culture’, to the ‘Evolution of Chinese Poetry’, ‘Storytelling’ and ‘Body Language’. 

学生们以小组为单位,围绕“语言,标志与符号”这一主题进行创作。同时,每个学生自主选择子主题展开探索,从“文化的符号和象征”,“中国诗歌的历程”,到“故事创作”和“身体语言”等等。

Students were given an open and simple brief; they had to create designs linking to the theme and they had to work with electric paint to produce drawings that made sound. Students had to work independently from the teacher to research, design and refine ideas. 

老师们会给学生一个开放性的简要介绍,而后,他们便需要创作和主题相关的设计,用电子漆创作出可以发出声音的图画。学生需要自己独立地完成研究、设计和提炼创意。


Workshops took place at both HDSH and SIVA studios in which students were given a series of lessons in which to develop their work alongside SIVA students.

赫德和艺术设计学院都会举办工作坊,赫德学生和设计学院的学生一起学习怎么创作。



The Testing

我们如何测试?



The project was structured around a series of workshops which allowed students time to test the conductive materials, draw and paint, record sounds and curate. The initial workshop centered around the exploration of the conductive paint.

为这个项目所设计的一系列的工作坊,让学生有充足的机会去测试导电的材料,制图,绘画,录音和整合。工作坊最初的内容是探索电子漆。


SIVA students introduced HDSH students to the media encouraging them to test the consistency of the paint as well as mixing the paint with other inks to ascertain the best fluidity and conductivity. 

视觉美术学院的学生给赫德学生介绍了电子漆,去鼓励他们测试电子漆的持续性,去把电子漆和其他墨水混合从而探索到最好的稳定性和导电性。

Students experimented with downloading and programming sounds to the conductuve circuit boards as well as using electric paint to create interesting circuits connecting the artwork to sound. Once the students had established clear designs they were able to start pairing their drawings with sound. 

学生会尝试在电路板用下载和编辑的声音和电子漆去创作艺术性的电路,从而把作品和声音连接起来。一旦学生确定了自己的设计,他们就能够把自己的画和声音连接起来。

SIVA students led a sound workshop in which students created a range of sounds connected to their designs, these were recorded using sound equipment provided by the university.

视觉美术学院的学生主导了声音工作坊,在课程中,学生创作了一系列的和他们的设计相关的声音,这些声音都用视觉美术学院提供的设备录了下来。



The Designing

我们如何设计?



The SIVA students played a vital role not just as teammates but as educators and mentors to the younger students. Working with university students meant that HDSH students were exposed to more advanced and abstract ideas, methodology and materials.  

SIVA艺术专业的学生不仅仅是赫德学生的队友,也是赫德学生的老师和导师。和大学生一起创作也意味着赫德的学生接触到了更加先进和抽象的理念,方法和创作材料。

Working with young adults within a higher-level environment had a positive influence on the work ethic of the HDSH students encouraging them to raise their standards. An important part of the process was to develop students’ critical thinking skills. Students took part in discussions about each other’s work in which they had to provide constructive ways in which to improve. 

和大学生一起创作也让赫德的学生更加努力并提高自己的标准。这个项目很重要的一个过程是发展学生的批判性思维。学生要对同伴的作品进行讨论并给出可以提高的指导性意见。


The Exhibition

我们的展览


As the students had the rare opportunity to present their work within a public space, we felt it was important that they had an influence on the way in which it was curated. Students discussed the layout and positioning of their work as one large group rather than as individual groups. Students were asked to consider the experience of the viewer as they entered the space, how the work could be most visible and accessible to members of the public.

学生在公共场合展览自己作品的机会很少,我们认为学生对自己的作品的策展表达自己的意见很重要。全部的参展学生会在一起讨论自己作品的摆放和位置。学生需要考虑观展者一进入展厅的感受,作品怎么才能在视觉和位置摆放上给公众带来更好的体验。



Students became very engaged in this process as they could start to visualize their exhibition becoming a reality. The notion that members of the public would actually be able to engage and interact with their work was exciting. 

学生们在这个过程非常投入,因为他们可以预见自己的作品会被正式展出。公众可以参与并和他们的作品互动这个想法也让人很激动。



Students’ work was exhibited as part of Suzhou Digital exhibition in April this year. The students’ work shared a platform with other exciting art work from animation to robotics, digital surface design and Technoetic art. It was exciting to see their work displayed so professionally within the beautiful surroundings of the recently restored North Bank Granary in Suzhou.

学生作品于今年4月在第二届创意阳澄数字文创节(第八届苏州创博会分会场 )展出。学生的作品和动画,机器人技术,数字平面设计和科智艺术一同展出。看到学生的作品在近期刚修复好的、环境优雅的北堤粮仓被专业地展出,也是很让人兴奋。

It was amazing to watch as children came in to the space and were encouraged to touch the artwork, something usually forbidden in formal art institutions. Instead the students watched as their faces lit up as sounds emerged from their touch. 

还有一个让人啧啧称奇的事情,是当孩子们进入展览时,是被鼓励去触摸这些展品的。而在正式的艺术展览中,展品一般是禁止触摸的。而这次的展览中,在触摸展品时声音会伴随而来,学生们很是欢欣雀跃。


Working with unusual materials at university level and seeing their work on public display provided a unique experience for our students in which they had a taste of what it’s like to be a Technoetic artist.

这次的展览中,学生和大学生一起工作,使用特殊材料都是学生的一次特殊的经历,他们也初尝了科技艺术的魅力。


Through this project we aimed to create a real-life context for the students’ learning with an exciting conclusion, helping them to understand why they are learning as well as how.

通过这次项目,我们致力于让给学生的学习创造一个真实的生活场景,完美的呈现他们的作品,从而让他们理解为什么要学,如何学得更好。



In the future 

我们的展望



The success of the project lay in the relationships built through collaboration. The students formed bonds with each other that encouraged and motivated them to design, make and innovate. 

这个项目的成功来自于在沟通中建立的良好的合作关系。学生之间建立了联系,这种联系会激励他们去设计,创作和创新。



We plan to continue to forge this relationship with SIVA going forward. We would also like to extend the relationship to other institutions of arts, design and education in the hope to create more projects that foster teamwork, communication and creation.

我们计划加强和上海视觉艺术学院的联系,也尝试和其他艺术,设计以及教育院校的合作,以期创造更多促进团队合作,沟通和创新的项目。
