STEAM 家庭日回顾：承上启下的Prep这一年，我们为孩子们准备的绝不仅是知识！

我们从春天走来，一路向前，走进温柔的五月。Prep迎来了STEAM家庭日活动！家长和孩子们一起参与到STEAM活动中，幸福的笑容洋溢在大家的脸上。

We were delighted to welcome families in joining us for our Prep STEAM family event. It was wonderful to see so many happy smiles as parents, children and teachers learned together.

PART 01

探究式/INQUIRY

Prep孩子们迎接的STEAM挑战是设计一顶功能型的帽子：防水、防晒或防风。在开始之前，孩子们先进行有趣的Quiz竞答游戏。

The STEAM challenge children and families were given, was to design a hat which met at least one of the following requirements; to be waterproof, sun resistant or wind resistant. Before we got started,we took part in a fun Quiz game！ 

STEAM活动采用小组合作制进行，孩子们从决定设计到选择材料，每一步都需要与小组成员共同讨论并决定。

每个小组都拥有相同的材料，但每组的设计却又各不相同、各具特色。这就是创意迸发的“火花”。

看到孩子们头脑风暴，并集思广益，爸爸妈妈们赞叹不已。

We had to ‘work together’ in teams in order to decide upon a design and choose from the materials provided. Everyone had the same materials so it was fantastic to see so many different ideas being developed.

PART 02

创造性/CREATIVITY

STEAM活动能为孩子们提供动手学习体验，激发孩子们的好奇心来帮助发展学术、早期思维和推理技能。

在这次活动中，每个小组都需要不断地测试并一一记录测试结果，以此来帮助反思他们的设计，进一步改进方案。

Once teams had created an initial design, we tested our hats to see if they met any of the requirements. Teams recorded these results to support them in reflecting on their designs and then used these to improve their designs further. Learning to reflect and improve is an invaluable life lesson and helps us to grow as individuals. STEAM activities support academic growth and early thinking and reasoning skills in this way.  

老师们通过在活动中的观察，给每个小组颁发了不同成就的证书。

无论孩子们专注于哪个目标，他们做出的努力都值得得到认可。

Once the final designs were submitted by teams, it was time for the awards! Teams were awarded certificates for many different achievements ensuring students could be recognized, no matter which of the criteria they focused on. We were so proud to share in everyone’s achievements.  

PART 03

多元化/DIVERSITY

STEAM家庭日的最后，孩子们、家长们和老师们还一起度过了非常温馨的下午茶时光。

Finally, families and teachers enjoyed an afternoon snack together – thank you to PTA parents for helping to arrange this and thank you to everyone for joining in with this exciting activity! 

无论是课程的设计，还是学生们的创造力、学习力，这次活动都获得了家长们的一致好评！

After the STEAM Family Day, the design of the course, as well as the creativity and learning ability of the students, were praised by the parents!

非常感谢爸爸妈妈们参与到这个有意义的活动中，为孩子们的Prep生活创造特别的回忆。

关于赫德Prep

在幼小衔接阶段，我们经常思考该为孩子未来的学习做好哪些准备？学拼音？学计算？学写字?

如果把知识的提前教授作为衡量孩子起跑线的标准，显然不符合这个年龄段孩子的成长规律。

我们真正需要让孩子具备的是：阅读习惯、倾听习惯、独立思考习惯、正确的同伴交流以及学会基本的情绪管理，这才是有价值的学前准备。

赫德学校多年来一直都极其重视学生在这一阶段发展，因此专门开设有Prep年级（即幼儿园大班这一年）。

Prep每个班24位学生，每班配备一名中方班主任、一名外方班主任和一名双语老师，形成 “铁三角”管理架构，为学生提供全方位的教育和陪伴。

利用这一年，中外方的老师们会在Prep的学习中设计融合的主题课程、沉浸式的活动体验，帮助孩子们在学习、生活、心理等各方面都为进入小学做好充分准备，并在未来漫长的学习生涯中具备自主学习和思辨的能力。
