被“边缘化”课程的逆袭


体育课在传统意义上往往被认为是一门为学生提供体能锻炼,学习各种运动比赛技能,以及进行各种趣味游戏的课程。随着大众观念中普遍认为“成绩决定一切”的趋势下,体育课等专业技能课程往往容易被人们所忽视。当家长为孩子们花费大量时间金钱在语文、数学、人文科学等主流学术型学科上时,体育课的“被边缘化”使得孩子们正在失去一生成长中至关重要的转折点。

Physical Education is traditionally viewed as a class that offers students the opportunity to improve their fitness, practice sports, and play games. As academic rigor and results are driving the education industry, specialist subjects such as P.E. are often overlooked and rank as a lesser priority than mainstream subjects such as Language, Maths, Science, and Humanities. While the intention of parents focusing on mainstream academic subjects may be innocent, it could prove to be vital turning point in a child’s life.


不被“重视”,地位“边缘化”的体育课能为孩子带来的远远不止是常规锻炼下身体素质的提高。更重要的是,它可以让孩子们在享受运动锻炼的过程中逐步提高他们待人处事的方式方法和自信,教会他们如何开动脑筋去发掘路径创造辉煌,并且帮助他们养成可以伴随其一生的健康的生活方式和习惯。在宁波赫德实验学校,整个体育教学团队至始至终都在教学过程中坚持不懈地把“教育塑造人格”这一理念准确地传递给课堂上的每一位赫德学子。

Above and beyond the visible and short-term benefits of regular exercise, Physical Education is the key to improving a child’s confidence, brainpower, and long-term health. At HD Ningbo School, we believe that Education Creates Character and we, the P.E. Department, work tirelessly to ensure our students understand how that message applies when having Physical Education classes.



为学生带去“榜样”的力量


在宁波赫德学校开展体育教学之初,我们便为自己定下了清晰的使命和目标——“将自己对体育教学的热枕和激情传递给体育课堂上的每一位赫德学子”。同伴之间的理解,温暖的微笑,加油鼓励以及击掌欢呼都是赫德体育课程中着重去强调和教授的内容。而当下阶段,我们体育团队更希望在体育课堂上为学生带去“榜样”的力量。

The first task we set for ourselves is to model our love and passion for teaching P.E. to our students. Warm smiles, high fives, encouragement, cheering, and praise are all important practices that we establish from the beginning of a school year. Yet, the key word that the P.E. Team wishes to emphasize is the term model.


对于年轻人来说,榜样的力量是无穷的。孩子们在成长的道路上通过不断地观察、实践和学习来长大成人。当周围都是积极的榜样时,学生就容易养成积极向上的习惯,同时这些习惯的养成必须得到其榜样们的支持,这些榜样可以是老师、教练、父母、祖父母和朋友等。

Young learners are greatly influenced by the role models around them. Children are constantly watching, studying, and learning – these are natural practices of growth. When surrounded by positive role models, students learn positive habits. These habits must be supported by all of the child’s role models. That includes teachers, coaches, parents, grandparents, and friends.


保证安全才能带来信任和信心


虽然鼓励学生参加体育运动很重要,但保证安全也是宁波赫德学校在开展所有体育活动时的重中之重。通过教会学生在体育运动中确保自身和运动环境的安全,可以增强学生和老师之间的信任,从而进一步提高对彼此的信心。而后在适当的环境中,这种彼此信任关系的建立就会对孩子产生非常积极的影响。

While the efforts to instill a love for P.E. and Sport into students is important, safety remains the number one priority for all students at HD Ningbo School. By educating our students on how to be safe in and around sporting environments, we aim to build levels of trust with our students and our community. As the trust levels between students and teachers grow, so do the levels of confidence in one another. Expressed in an appropriate manner, this kind of confidence building can greatly impact a child.


如果能让孩子喜欢他们所做的事情,并且信任教导他们的人,那么随之而来的就是孩子高效的进步与发展。体育教育则为这种发展提供了独特的机会。在所有学科都提倡团队合作,策略,计划和创造力等概念时,赫德体育课程教学将这些概念付诸于实践。一个简单的活动就可以成为一个练习生活技能的机会。通过比赛练习和游戏可以教会孩子做到谦卑、礼貌、体贴、友善、友谊、公平竞争等优秀品格。

If you can get a child to love what they do and trust the person teaching it, effective development can actually begin. Physical Education offers a very unique approach to that development in that the learning can be physically practiced. While concepts such as teamwork, strategy, planning, and creativity are promoted across all subjects Physical Education classes put those concepts into action. A simple activity can be turned into a life skill practicing opportunity. Competitions, exercises, and games are used to teach humility, manners, thoughtfulness, kindness, friendship, and fair play. But, once again, one cannot simply teach these values they must be consistently modeled and practiced.


值得注意的是,这些价值观并不能简单的通过传授来让孩子学习,它更多地需要靠实践。这做起来并不简单!如果尺度把握不好,比赛就会变成竞争,锻炼也会变得很累,游戏也将变得无趣。我们的每个班级都有24位学生,他们来自不同的背景,有着不同的价值观,有着来自家庭对他们实现自我突破的期望。这对每一位体育老师来说都是一个难得的机会。

And that is no simple task! Competitions turn competitive, exercises become tiring, and games will become boring if they are overplayed. Every single parent acknowledges the exhaustive efforts it takes to raise a child. And we have 24 children of different backgrounds, who prioritize different values, who come from successful families who expect their child to exceed their achievements in one class. It is an awesome opportunity for each P.E. Teacher to embrace.



身体素质与精神需求并进


作为体育教学团队,我们的目标是为我们的学生树立学习的榜样。这包括但不仅限于让学生学会如何进行计划、安排准备、选用策略、掌控全局并且最终执行。尽管我们是从体育教学的角度来思考上述内容,但是这些能力的应用在我们的日常生活中无所不在。

As a P.E. Team, we aim to model examples of what we expect our students to follow. That includes, but is not limited to planning, preparing, strategizing, visualizing, and executing. While we reference these terms from a Physical Education perspective, these skills are applied and practiced in all facets of life. 


研究表明,学习一项体育运动其实有百分之八十是脑力活动,这部分在运动和人生中起了决定性的作用。而剩下的百分之二十则是依靠强健的身体素质和运动能力。因此, 我们的教学目标是在加强身体素质,学习运动技能和游戏技巧的同时,注重学生精神层面的需求和发展。

It is said that 80% of learning sport is mental, and these skills are all a part of that brainpower required to be successful at sports and at life. Only 20% of learning P.E. and Sport is physical skill and gameplay. As such, while improving our fitness, learning sports, and playing games do make up what a visual picture of Physical Education may look like, it would be inconsiderate to simply ignore all of the mental training and practice that is constantly at the forefront of the purpose for all of our teaching. 



团队合作才能实现长期目标


如果不能够以一种吸引人、激励人心和鼓舞人心的方式实现短期目标,那就无法保证长期目标的达成。设定并达成短期目标需要合作,只有真正的团队才能建立这种合作关系。同时,还需要整个团队在课程设计上具有广阔的视野和可操作性的平台。

Long-term benefits cannot be realized without ensuring the short-term goals are met in a manner that is captivating, motivating and inspiring. Short-term goal setting requires cooperative efforts that only a true team can build. It also requires a broader vision as to the purpose of a lesson and/or curriculum as well as a platform on which to perform. 


在宁波赫德学校,我们非常幸运地拥有这样一支专业的、经验丰富的体育教师团队。他们真诚地关心我们的学生,互相帮助,彼此支持共同追求最高的标准。与此同时,学校也为学生提供了一流的设施和资源,这在浙江省内也是比较少有的。

At HD Ningbo School, we are more than fortunate to have a professional and experienced team of P.E. Teachers who genuinely care for our students and seek to help each other reach exceptional standards. Additionally, it is worth noting that we also have some of the best facilities and resources in the province.



大家都知道良好的生活习惯,积极的生活态度和定期的体育锻炼会为我们带来长期的健康,但是理论归理论,真正付诸行动却很难。因此,为学生树立榜样,对学生赋予真心,与学生分享我们对运动的热情,同学生建立信任关系,帮助学生树立自信,教会学生将体育课上学到的技能运用到生活中,让他们为自己的人生做好充足的准备是我们为之奋斗的目标。我们真诚地希望学生可以感受到,体育课不仅仅是一门课程,它更可以为大家未来的人生做好充足的准备。

While the theoretical understanding that living a healthy, active lifestyle with regular exercise and sport leads to better long-term health, the theory is easier understood than followed. Therefore, the process of impacting students through modeling, sharing a teacher’s genuine love and passion for P.E. and Sport, building levels of trust and confidence, and teaching our students how to apply valuable life skills to their practices in P.E. Classes becomes a pathway towards best preparing our students for life. By drawing from the inspirations all around us, it is our sincere hope that our students learn that P.E. is not just a class, but one of the best experiences they have to prepare for the rest of their lives.
